In my opinion and experience, both cars are very reliable if not abused and properly maintained (is the key!). I used to own 1990 300ZX NA and now I own 1996 300ZX TT and both of them were/are most reliable cars I've ever owned!
As for cost of maintenance, they are fairly close although in some cases TT will be more expensive. For example, you have many extra parts, some more expensive plus of course the turbos themselves... TT's probably need more pampering (especially oil changes and things like that) since they are pushing more HP and if you do use the power, it will (of course) be harder on the car.
Another few extra parts include stuff like the HICAS (all-wheel-steering), wider tires on the rear, higher insurance rates and so on...
Both EXCELLENT cars (if they are taken care of)! If they are abused, they can be your worse nightmare!
If you can affort a TT, I would highly recommand it but don't jump into it if you either:
1 - Don't have enough $$$ to own and maintain one
2 - It's your first car (or first FAST car) because they are fast and many people end up wrecking soon after they buy it.Hope this helps
